Seit den Vorgängen in Beit Schemesch ist die Stimmung aufgeheizt und so mancher Kommentator im Netz oder der Printpresse sieht in der Orthodoxie generell eine Tendenz zur »Radikalisierung«. Die New York Times hat sich die Mühe gemacht, ein wenig Sachlichkeit in die Debatte einzubringen und einfach mal einen orthodoxen Rabbiner zu Wort kommen lassen. Rabbiner Dov Linzer von der Jeschiwah Chovevei Torah hat deshalb für die New York Ausgabe vom 20. Januar einen kleinen Text dazu verfasst (hier online). Rabbiner Linzer lässt keinen Zweifel an seiner Überzeugung:
This is not a problem unique to Judaism. But the Talmud, the basis for Jewish law, offers a perhaps surprising answer: It places the responsibility for controlling mens licentious thoughts about women squarely on the men. Put more plainly, the Talmud says: Its your problem, sir; not hers. von hier
